Daughter Taken From Homeless Mom

After living in a car for two weeks a Heartland mother has her 3-year-old daughter taken away from her.

The accusations are disturbing but 41-year-old Theresa Stockfeld says they are all untrue and that she will be reunited with her daughter.

Theresa Stockfeld is back in the Pontiac Bonneville where she has lived in for the past couple of weeks. It was the situation police found Stockfeld and her 3-year-old daughter in when they took the child.

According to the police report Stockfeld would leave her daughter, at times, with "intoxicated, transient men."

Theresa Stockfeld says, "Complete lie, complete lie, 100%."
Reporter asks, "So she was with you?"
Stockfeld replies, "All the time."

Theresa says she never left her daughter Madison out of her sight and living in the car is actually better for the little girl.

Theresa Stockfeld says, “My baby was healthier living in this car than being in there."

"There" is the Siena/Francis House. According to Theresa, Madison kept catching bugs from the other kids and living in the car eliminated the little girl's illnesses.

Patty Cunningham is the guest manager at the Siena/Francis House. It was her call to police that lead to Madison being placed with child protective services.

Patty Cunningham says, "The welfare of the child, they can't defend themselves so the welfare of the children is definitely our concern. It should be anyone's concern in any situation where ever the child may be."

The situation has forced Theresa to reset her priorities.

Theresa Stockfeld says, "First and foremost I have to find a place to live because they said if we have a place to live we can get her back and then second and foremost on my list is getting my daughter back."

And give her a home to grow up in.

According to the police report at the time she was taken from her mother Madison was in a dirty diaper, in dirty clothing and was sitting in a messy care within reach of an undisclosed weapon.

Stockfeld says all of that is untrue.
