New facility opens

For the first time in its 120 year history, St. Paul Lutheran students finally got to play in their very own gym on Saturday.

The facility at 50th Street and Grand Avenue was built thanks to a $270,000 fundraising campaign. The 5,400 square foot gymnasium has an electronic scoreboard, glass backboards and hardwood floors.

"Excitement, and delight!" says principal Linda Tripp. "It's just a beutiful gym."

The school dates back to 1887. The current structure was dedicated in 1965.

The gym still lacks a few things so the school is holding a Wild Game Feed to raise money. The dinner is January 18th at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15.

I went to a Lutheran school through eighth grade so this is wonderful news to me. We never did have a gym at my school.
