Two people are dead and one person was injured in a one car accident three miles east of Woodbine, Iowa in Harrison County.
The dead are 51-year-old Myra Hazard and her 18-year-old son James Hazard. 51-year-old Terry Hazard is in stable condition in a Missouri Valley hospital.
According to the Harrison County sheriff's office, Terry Hazard lost control of their car Monday night and it went into a ditch and rolled over several times. The car came to a stop in an open field. The sheriff's office says the roadway was partially ice covered at the time of the accident.
Terry Hazard is the superintendent of the Woodbine School District. Myra Hazard was a teacher in the Woodbine Community Schools.
The Hazards were returning home from the boys district basketball tournament in Manning, Iowa. James Hazard was a member of the Woodbine basketball team that defeated Boyer Valley earlier in the evening.
The accident remains under investigation.
