The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a dozen piglets died while being transported to an Iowa farm. They fell from a moving semi-trailer on Interstate 29. The carnage spanned 23 miles.
NDHP Lt. Dave Wolf says the semi was hauling piglets from Winnipeg in Canada to Iowa to be raised. On Wednesday, the piglets somehow lifted an unlockd gate on the undercarriage of the livestock trailer.
A dozen of the animals fell to their deaths between Grand Forks and Fargo. The semi driver was not cited. No other vehicle was damaged.
