As the revolution visits Nebraska football, some fans are showing patience while others are pointing fingers.
Matt Scott says his frustrations are aimed at Nebraska Athletic Director Steve Pederson and he's fueling the animosity with a Web site called firesteve.com.
"Obviously, I wish Steve Pederson wasn't the athletic director," Scott says.
Matt Scott started the site after Frank Solich was fired as Nebraska's head coach last year.
After a disappointing Husker season, the site is buzzing with theories of who is to blame and what should happen.
Scott says, "I grew up in Nebraska. I'm 34-years-old. This is the first losing season, the first time not going to a bowl game. It's terrible. I feel bad for the players."
Howard Silber, co-author of a book about Nebraska football, says the blame lies partly with the coach.
Silber says Bill Callahan's game plans should have made better use of the talent that was available, "and as he recruits, and he will, move into the west coast offense," Mr. Silber says.
Silber also says that Coach Callahan has a lot of potential and he predicts the tough times won't last.
"Be patient," Silber advises fans. "The good years will be back in two to three years. Nebraska will be back up there again."
But back at Fire Steve, Matt Scott says many Husker fans don't have patience after the 2004 season and he says that's reflected in the email he receives every day.
"Some people have talked about not buying merchandise, not going to games," Scott says. "There are people talking about that, boycotts of athletic events, and so on."
Howard Silber disagrees with Matt Scott on the issue of fan support. The author doesn't expect any drop in season tickets sales. One streak that does continue is the consecutive sell-outs of Memorial Stadium.
