One look and you know the accident was severe. The Taurus was on its side, the windshield shattered by the utility pole. Ned Scariscsany wouldn't survive. A makeshift memorial was erected in his honor.
His friend and driver, Lisa Conway is charged with Motov Vehicle Homicide, her court appointed attorney say's she's taking it hard.
Tom Riley, Conway's attorney said, "Scared this whole ordeal of course is overwhelming for all the families involved no doubt."
It's a lesson learned by young people on an almost individual basis.
Earlier this year Matt Robinson admitted, in juvenile court to killing his two friends. The judge placed him on probation, and Robinson has to carry pictures of Jacob and Kyle in his wallet.
Before Robinson, Sarah Roach learned her lesson.
Sarah Roach said, "We're not invincible like everyone thinks they are we're really not and teenagers all think they are I thought I was too until that happened and I lost my best friend."
The accident Roach was responsible for was in 2006, earlier this year she was sentenced to probation for causing the death of her best friend.
Scariscsany's memorial marks the place of his death, but it also serves as a reminder to all young people about the dangers of drinking and driving.
