Scott Grasso thought an advertising offer would rev-up business for his auto repair shop. Instead he put on the brakes after several red flags appeared.
Scott Grasso said, “If I went through with it and didn’t get any advertising, my advertising money for the year would be gone.”
N.W.M. marketing has a Delaware address but the bill sent to Scott has Illinois postage. That’s one red flag that caused him not to pay the $200 bill.
Also the ads would be on take out menus for La Mesa restaurants in the metro. However the regional manager for the restaurant chain Jose Salazar said La Mesa has no contracts with N.W.M. marketing. Salazar said the restaurant’s good name is being misused.
The Better Business Bureau lists N.W.M. as Nationwide Marketing of Illinois. The BBB gives the company and F rating with 111 complaints, mostly about sales tactics.
A spokesman for the company named Mike Waylen said he’s never heard of any complaints but will work with Scott Grasso on clearing up the bill his been sent.
Waylen said N.W.M. has a contract with a district manger for La Mesa restaurants named George Mendez. However La Mesa’s regional manager never heard of that person.
