A late Sunday afternoon crash at Buccaneer Bay caused extensive damage to a home.
Deputies and Plattsmouth Fire and Rescue were called to 3501 Buccaneer Boulevard at 5:20pm. Deputies determined that Kevin L. Hellbusch, age 41, of Ewel Court at Buccaneer Bay, was driving his 2001 Toyota Tundra extended cab pickup when he lost control of the vehicle, said Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann.
The Cassgram said the report said the truck went across the lawn and driveway, struck a lawnmower in the driveway and then drove through the garage doors, colliding with a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe parked inside. The force of the collision pushed in a wall of the house, causing extensive damage.
Deputies determined vehicle speed prior to the accident was a factor, said Brueggemann. Damage to the residence was estimated to be over $35,000 with over $5,000 damage to the Tahoe.
Hellbusch was checked for injuries by Plattsmouth Fire and Rescue. He was then taken into custody and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, said Brueggemann.
