An Omaha Woman flying to St. Louis earlier this month made a shocking discovery after takeoff. A 200,000 volt stun gun she keeps for protection was still in her purse.
Jen doesn't want her last name used fearing the government might still fine her for the mistake. Jen said, " I realized there was something in my purse that could get me in big trouble."
TSA tells Six On Your Side the woman won't be assessed a civil fine. The TSA is reviewing security camera tapes of the night Jen and a friend passed through the checkpoint at the Eppley Airfield terminal.
TSA also took photos of the stun gun provided by Six On Your Side so screeners can see what was missed passing through X-ray. The stun gun looks like a camera in a canvass case.
However Jen said, "It was missed and you wonder how that can happen." Her companion named Kailan said, "A lot of people thought it was funny she got through with a stun gun but actually its not funny because if she got through with it anybody could."
Jen put the stun gun in her checked baggage for the return trip.
Though not allowed Ianthe cabin area, stun guns are considered personal defense devices and can be packed in checked baggage.
TSA warns passengers to check the TSA website for items that can't be taken in carry on luggage or purses.
