A Beatrice, Nebraska mother was sentenced Friday to at least 10 days in jail and two years' probation after her son was duct-taped to a wall.
Gage County District Court records show 18-year-old Jayla Hamm was ordered to spend five weekends in jail and serve two 15-day jail terms. The longer stays, scheduled for August 2011 and 2012, can be waived if Hamm honors her probation.
A police affidavit says Hamm held her then-22-month-old son to the wall while her boyfriend, 19-year-old Corde Honea, taped him to it in January. The affidavit says pictures on Hamm's digital camera showed the boy crying while being taped.
Honea was sentenced last Wednesday to 36-60 months in prison for
intentional child abuse. The boy has been placed in state custody.
