Omaha Police have identified the victim in the city's latest homicide as 25-year-old Andrew Lineberry of Omaha.
They found Lineberry shot in a car just south of the intersection of 10th and Bancroft Streets just after midnight Sunday morning.
They found Lineberry in a gray Buick parked at the side of the road. He had apparent gunshot wounds to his face and head.
He was rushed to the Creighton University Medical Center in extremely critical condition, but died from his injuries.
Reports from the scene indicate a woman and several children were inside the car at the time of the shooting.
Radio reports indicate police, with the help of the Omaha Police helicopter, were looking for a white SUV or pickup truck spotted leaving the scene.
Police officials are asking for the public's help in solving the crime.
Omaha Police Lt. Darci Tierney says, "We're asking for the public's help in this, if there's other people that were in the area that saw it. We'd appreciate the help."
Possible witnesses are urged to call the Omaha Homicide Unit at 444-5656 or the tip line at 444-7867.
