Halloween is coming up and people are out and about searching for that perfect costume, but sometimes Halloween can hurt your pocketbook.
Tobi Mathouser and her kids, Ian and Connor, decided to take another route and shop for their costumes at the Goodwill.
“It’s just not reasonable for us to go to those other places you know we can come here we can get more and you know save a little bit of money at the same time.”
“Ian had his heart set on Spider-Man but we’ve run into a few different costumes that he likes so we’ll probably choose from something here.” She says.
Some people like Courtney Burns go to both thrift and retail stores to put together the perfect costume. She says how much you are willing to spend all depends on how into Halloween you are.
“I get really into Halloween so I’m willing to forgo 50 bucks because it’s a memory; it’s a lot of fun.”
But for families on a budget there are other ways to take the cost out of your costumes no matter which store you shop at.
Kris Cohn who works at Nobbies on 120th and Center says “We have probably enough accessories here that we could put together a costume that would not cost you an arm and a leg.”
Goodwill representative Kris Pachunka says that there are plenty of options there to save as well. “As long as you’re creative there’s no limit here.”
And for Tobi’s son Ian that’s probably the case.
