Flooding in Cass County, Nebraska

Large parts of Cass County, NE saw 3" to 5" of rain from the round of storms that moved through Wednesday night. This has led to large amounts of flooding county wide and along Weeping Water Creek. In fact, a Flood Warning is in effect through Friday afternoon for areas along Weeping Water Creek.

Emergency management officials in the Weeping Water area report that when water levels were at their highest last night, it was about 3 ft below the highest stage ever recorded back in June of this year.

From a river gauge located in the Union, NE area, about 12 miles downstream from Weeping Water, water levels were shown to have risen from 4.4 ft at 10:30 PM Wednesday night to 25.6 ft at 6:30 AM Thursday morning.

Flood waters will have a chance to slowly recede starting Friday and through the coming weekend.
