A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Montgomery and Page counties in Iowa until 6 p.m. Sunday.
An Omaha realtor didn’t find bricks or boards stacked neatly on on one his lots for sale. Instead some 150 phone books left on a lot in the upscale White Hawk neighborhood.
Ralph Marasco said, “Somebody has to pay to have it hauled away and that’s frustrating. Plus people live in the neighborhood who don’t want to see debris.”
If the illegal dumpers had taken the load to Firststarfiber recycling they could have received up to $5.00. Not a lot of money but better for the environment. Dale Gubbels of Firstarfiber said, “With the improvements made in paper mills we say if it tears we take it. Paper can be recycled in a lot of different forms including phone books.”
DexOne sent a crew to pick up the new phone books still wrapped in plastic. The phone book company is investigating with its third party sub contractors who deliver the books under strict guidelines.
