The online payment site Paypal is about to enter the retail market...on the walk-in store level.
Officials with Paypal say they're developing software that will transform mobile phones and other devices into "digital wallets."
Consumers can use their mobile devices to purchase merchandise at the check-out counter.
The move would give Paypal a foothold in the 2.4 trillion dollar market dominated by credit cards.
Some of the new software is expected to be unveiled at a Paypal conference in October.
