Former School Secretary Imprisoned For Stealing From District
A former secretary for Cozad High School must make restitution to the Cozad schools for stealing thousands of dollars.
Brenda Sigler had pleaded guilty in June to three counts of theft and four counts of forgery. Judge James Doyle IV on Monday ordered the restitution and gave Sigler 7-to-12 years on each count, to be served at the same time.
Court documents say Sigler took more than $1,500 in district funds on three occasions between 2007 and 2009 and obtained by forgery $1,000 or more on four occasions between 2002 and 2006.
A lawsuit filed by the school district says Sigler took a total of nearly $338,000.
