Mold Cleanup Work Begins On Nebraska School
Pierce Public Schools officials expect to open Pierce Elementary for classes later this month, now that they've got a handle on the school's mold problems.
The mold problems forced the district in northeast Nebraska to delay a school opening for about 375 elementary students.
The district middle and high schools were to open as expected Monday morning.
Superintendent Dan Navrkal says the elementary school's roof problems have been fixed and humidity levels lowered.
That will allow the cleanup to begin.
Navrkal says carpets and duct work in the library and 10 to 12 classrooms are the workers' main targets.
He expects the work to be done and classes to begin by Aug. 25.
