Southeast Nebraska, southwest Iowa and northwest Missouri until 4 a.m. Sunday. This includes Omaha, Council Bluffs and Lincoln.
At 101, longtime legislative worker Sally Gordon has been honored as America's Outstanding Oldest Worker for 2010 by a national organization.
Gordon received the honor Tuesday at the Capitol from Experience Works, the nation's largest nonprofit training center for older workers.
Gordon has been in the work force 84 years. For the last 26 years, she has been an assistant sergeant-at-arms, or "red coat" for the state, serving the Nebraska Legislature while it is in session.
Gordon, who worked for three Nebraska governors, still walks to work most days.
A graceful presence in the Capitol, Gordon is also tough. People who complain of the heat might do well to think of Gordon: She has no air conditioning, by choice.
