Saturday, April 12th:
You're invited to a weekend of soccer and fundraising all to raise money for cancer research, right here, in Omaha.
WOWT NBC Omaha is proud to sponsor the 9th Annual Kicks for a Cure on April 11 and 12. Friday, the Creighton University Women's Soccer team will host a Youth Soccer Clinic. The free, 90-minute clinic is for boys and girls between the ages of eight and 14.
The Kicks for a Cure banquet and silent auction will be held Friday evening at the Doubletree Hotel.
On Saturday, the community is invited to Creighton's Morrison Stadium for a day filled with soccer. Four games will be held; all are free to the public.
Kicks for a Cure benefits Liz's Legacy, a charitable program that supports cancer research, education, and patient care at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Eppley Cancer Center and Creighton University's Hereditary Cancer Center. Since its inception, Kicks for a Cure has raised more than $1.4 million for cancer research.
Liz's Legacy was created to honor Liz Karnes, who died in April 2003, after a 12-year fight against cancer. Her family said Liz knew first-hand how important it is to be an advocate for yourself and your health concerns.
