The former grounds of the Ak-Sar-Ben Race Track will be the site for the second annual Hope in the Heartland Gala, an evening of food, live music and video horse racing to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
WOWT is proud to sponsor the gala on Friday, July 19, at Stinson Park at Aksarben Village with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society.
“Grab your derby hats and join us for an evening to raise money for a good cause,” said Tim Sullivan, chair of the 2013 gala. “We’ll have great music and some terrific food options as wells as silent and live auctions. It’ll be an evening to remember.”
This year’s event chairs are Sullivan and his wife, Connie, and Robert and Addie Hollingsworth. Musical entertainment will be provided by popular Omaha band Finest Hour. Tickets cost $150, and the goal is to raise $200,000.
Every dollar raised by the American Cancer Society helps save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays, by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures and by fighting back against a disease that has taken far too much.
