The Omaha Film Festival will be hosting a special screening of the 2010 Lions Gate release of the feature film "PEACOCK" starring Ellen Page, Susan Sarandon, Cillian Murphy, Josh Lucas, Bill Pullman and Keith Carradine on Thursday, April 22nd from 6:00pm - 10:00pm at the Great Escape Theatre.
Synopsis: “John Skillpa, a quiet bank clerk living in tiny Peacock, Nebraska, prefers to live an invisible life. This might have to do with John's secret: he has another personality no one knows about, a woman who each morning does his chores and cooks him breakfast before he starts his day. Then, in a moment, everything changes...”
The film was shot in and around Des Moines, Denison, Greenfield and Lorimor, IA and the OFF is proud to start their monthly screening series with this fantastic new thriller.
At 6:00pm, the evening will start off with a block of short films featuring some of the Nebraska Shorts that screened at the 2010 Omaha Film Festival as well as some additional surprises.
At 8:00pm we will screen "PEACOCK."
There will be time before the short block and before the feature film to have open discussions about the local film scene so bring your information to exchange with other actors, directors, producers, etc. to make this an interactive film event. As a special treat, filmmaker Dan Iske, writer/director of the 2008 OFF the EDGE winning film, will be in attendance selling copies of his DVD “The Wretched” so for those of you that came to the 2008 Omaha Film Festival and saw this great horror film, you won’t want to miss this opportunity.
To start the monthly screening series OFF with a bang, we are keeping our admission price ridiculously low at only $5.00 for the evening so come out, support local filmmakers, support the theater, and interact with other like-minded individuals. And this event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC so everyone should come and enjoy a great evening of cinema.
The annual festival sets out to deliver a fresh and innovative cinema experience through the exhibition of independent film and the growth of its Film Education Initiative program, and has become a staple of Omaha’s developing cultural identity.
The Omaha Film Festival endeavors to provide leadership in Nebraska filmmaking through collaborative efforts with production studios, distributors, filmmakers, and film markets for a comprehensive cinematic and educational experience that is responsive to community needs and preferences, as well as the needs of the independent filmmaker.
