The Gala

Have a Host Party!

On the Web

Channel 6 For the Heartland and the Nebraska AIDS Project (nap.org) invite you to join in an evening of glitz, glamour and good karma at the 17th Annual Night of 1000 Stars.

Mark the calendar and prepare to get your bling on, the 2009 Benefit Gala is Saturday, December 5th at Omaha’s Holland Performing Arts Center. Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and dancing, all night long! Omaha’s hottest dance band, Session 7, will rock the party with 80s and 90s R&B and contemporary hits. Along with a silent auction featuring exclusive original work by local artists and take home a new piece of artwork for your home or office!

The evening is all about enjoying a great time for an even greater good. By joining in the fun, you help NAP raise money to continue to provide free HIV/AIDS testing and other crucial services and counseling throughout Nebraska.

This year’s theme is “Honoring 25 Years of Nebraska AIDS Project.” Hosts are Honorary Chair Mike Fahey and Committee Chair KMTV Anchor Carol Wang.

A VIP reception for Premium Sponsors kicks off the evening from 8-9 p.m. in the Founder’s Room. The Gala opens to the public at 9 p.m. and will end at 1 a.m. Gala tickets are $50 and may be purchased through Nebraska AIDS Project, 402-552-9260.

Those with a black belt in partying know that the Host Parties leading up the Gala are a crucial part of the evening’s fun and success. Anyone may host a party and the theme can be as crazy or as highbrow as you can imagine. Invite your family and friends and let your creativity run wild. For the first time this year, parties may be held on ANY NIGHT in the weeks and months leading up to the night of the Gala, including December 5th. The possibilities -- picnics, barbeques and starlit rooftop gatherings -- are endless.

As host, you supply the place and the food, NAP supplies customizable invitations and envelopes or e-vites. Guests to a host party get the bonus of two parties for the price of one, because their tickets also get them into the Gala, no matter what date your party is held.

The requested donation amount for guests is at least the cost of a ticket to the Gala ($50) but they may certainly donate more. Tickets to the parties may be purchased directly from party hosts. Rick McConnell of NAP said that their goal is to have at least 40 host parties in Omaha and 10 in Lincoln this year.

For more information or a host party information sheet, please contact Rick McConnell at 402-552-9260 Ext. 141 or rickm@nap.org.
