Construction of the two ice rinks for the U.S. Figure Skating Championships began Monday at the CenturyLink Center.
A ten-person crew from Ice Rink Events and numerous volunteers are working around the clock to put together the practice and competition rinks. Each will have three sheets of ice.
Officials expect to have both rinks finished and ready for use by 5 p.m. Friday. Practice starts Saturday, with competition scheduled to get underway on Sunday, Jan. 20th.
Following the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, the ice will be moved to TD Ameritrade Park for the Mutual of Omaha Battles on Ice on February 9th.
