A new effort is launched to prosecute those who steal your income tax refund.
The U.S. Justice Department says it'll grant federal prosecutors authority to quickly arrest suspects in criminal tax cases.
Currently, U.S. Attorneys need approval from the Justice Department Tax Division before even starting prosecution in such cases.
But effective October 1st, the agency says attorneys will be able to bypass that review process...and authorize arrests immediately in ID theft tax cases.
