Pet Insurance Sales Skyrocket

Pet owners are spending more on pet insurance-which can help owners budget for unexpected emergencies and routine care.

In 2009 revenue from Pet Insurance plans totaled about $300 million a year. That's expected to jump to $753 million by 2014. This according to research firm Packaged Facts.

Providers offer plans that cover accidents and illnesses to wellness plans that pay for regular annual exams, vaccines, and blood work.

Premiums range anywhere from $15-$75 a month.
