BMW is recalling nearly 90,000 Turbocharged minis after receiving a dozen complaints of fires.
In some cases, the fires occurred while the vehicle was parked with the engine off.
The German automaker says the problem is with a faulty water pump that cools the turbocharger which has an electronic circuit board that can overheat.
The recall includes select models of the turbocharged Mini Cooper S, Cooper S Clubman, Cooper S Convertible, and JCW.
Owners will be notified next month to have the water pump replaced.
