The wage gap between men and women is about the same as it's been for the last four years.

According to the Census Bureau, women earned 77 cents for every dollar earned by a man in 2011.

The Census data also shows both genders received lower wages last year.

Earnings for a full time male employee fell about 2.5 percent to $48,202.00 between 2010 and 2011.

Earnings for full time women fell the same percentage to $37,118.

Experts say the latest figures show neither men nor women are making significant gains in earning power-mainly due to a weak economy and job market.
