Owners of the new Kindle can opt out of ads...for a price.

Amazon.com says it'll allow purchasers of its new Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD tablets to pay 15 dollars extra to turn off advertisements that are built into the devices.

On Thursday, Amazon unveiled the new, larger tablets priced from 150 dollars to 599 dollars.

Criticism mounted in online forums that Amazon would not allow buyers to pay to block advertisements...as it has done with earlier tablets.

Over the weekend, Amazon changed its policy.
