Good news for farmers and low-income families.
The federal government is spending four million dollars to hook up farmers with the Electronic Benefit Transfer System...or food stamps...at farmers markets.
There are roughly 7,000 farmers markets nationwide...but fewer than a quarter of them are
currently set up to use the EBT system.
The grants range from about $5400 for Delaware which has eleven markets...to nearly $427,000 for California which has more than 600 farmers markets.
