Business Travel Grows

Spending on business travel grew last year with most of it going toward airfare and lodging costs-and less on food.

A survey of business travelers' expense reports find the average amount spent on airfares was $418, up almost seven percent from the previous year. Lodging was up about $89, up four percent.

During the same time period, the average food expense was down four percent.

Analysts say a drop in dining costs could reflect companies' desire to continue business travel, but reduce overall expenses, especially as the price of air travel goes up.
