A Sarpy County family recently experienced a frightening night when burglars got into their garage and kitchen while they slept. The suspects later used a stolen credit card so we know what they look like.
"It was unlocked ‘cause we were rearranging cars,” said Ryan Keele. Before Ryan and his mom could move the cars around, thieves took advantage of the unlocked door. “We didn't hear anything.”
The burglars got Ryan's wallet from his car. “You never expect someone to come through your garage.”
They didn't stop there, opening the unlocked inside door to the house at 22nd and Fairview. “We're very lucky they didn't go further in and get more,” said Ryan's mother, Robin McCollor. Thank the family dog. “He woke everybody up.”
If you have kids who drive you know about the driveway shuffle and how easy it is to leave the garage door opener in the car and the doors unlocked, mistakes this family won't repeat. “Don't leave your stuff in your cars, don't leave the garage door openers,” said Zach Keele.
“These are opportunists, they're going to get caught, they're looking for an easy buck, but they'll get caught eventually,” said Ryan.
The suspects attempted to use Ryan's credit cards so detectives hope someone will identify them. If you can, call Sarpy County Crime Stoppers at 402-592-STOP.
