A bike ride ends with a bad spill. The rider blames the Papio Natural Resources District for a bracket on a popular public trail.
Dan Murrell, an avid bicyclist recalls the day he crashed, "I was coming across the bridge and the bike slid right out form under me. I fell back on my side."
Where a pole used to be was a hole with a lip and Murrell clipped it.
Dan suffered a broken wrist and filed a claim with the Papio NRD.
"Well all I asked for was for them to repair my bike. I don't think that was asking for a lot considering all the injuries I had," said Murrell.
Six months since Murrell's crash and about four miles down the trail, there is another one of the brackets sticking out. Its marked with pink tape, but that's not hanging on very well.
The NRD said this bridge stands along the city's section of the river trail. Murrell said regardless of which agency is responsible any hazards should be removed.
As for the safety issue down the trail, those bollards have been re-installed. The NRD said the claim by the bicyclist is up to the district's insurance provider.
