137 children younger than 15 years of age drowned in a pool or spa this summer.
This is according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission...based on deaths reported by the media.
The deaths occurred during the traditional summer pool season of Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Of the 137 children who drowned, at least 100 were younger than five.
Drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death among children one to four years of age.
