Federal officials are flying the warning flag over counterfeit blood glucose test strips being sold in the United States.
The test strips are for use with various models of LifeScan, Inc., One Touch Brand Blood Glucose Monitors.
According to officials with the Food and Drug Administration, fake versions of a "nationally distributed blood sugar test strip" could lead to a diabetic mistreating his or her disease and being seriously injured or even dying. No injuries had been reported as of October 16.
The strips are sold for use with various types of "Lifescan 'One Touch' glucose monitors
