Some metro teens may be a bit more tired than usual this weekend after taking part in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life that ran from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.
The event at the Omaha Sports Complex near 145th and Giles was organized and supported by hundreds of area high school students. “All the money fundraised goes to cancer research and the American Cancer Society programs, which include advocacy, education, patient care and so much more,” said event chairwoman Maya Gogoi.
Students raised more than $35,000 last year and hope to top that this year.
