A big honor came Thursday for a group of metro special needs students. Suburban Rotary presented scholarships to 10 students during a luncheon at Anthony's steakhouse.
The high school graduates were honored for exceeding standard requirements and serving their community. “It's quite an honor for these 10 students to receive this scholarship and we are the only scholarship like this in the metro area so we are very proud of the fact that we are able to help these students,” said Suburban Rotary’s Roxy Orr.
Each student receives a $2,500 scholarship to continue their education. Seventy-three students applied for the 10 awards. This is the 35th year Suburban Rotary has given scholarships to graduating seniors.
