Omaha’s Lothrop Magnet Center, in collaboration with King Science and Technology Magnet Center and North High Magnet, hosted a “Paving The Path To Peace” community service project Wednesday morning.
Students, staff and guests replaced mulch, planted flowers and weeded the garden area.
The North High Honor Guard then presented the American flag, KSTMC students led the audience in singing the national anthem and members of the Omaha police and fire departments were presented a plaque in honor of 9/11 first responders.
Lothrop’s outdoor classroom, located on the west side of the building next to its greenhouse, is lined with trees and filled with a variety of vegetation. The space not only gives students an opportunity to learn about gardening, but also provides a place to study when the weather is nice.
