Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman touted the work of the Knights of Aksarben Foundation Scholarship Program during a visit to the University of Nebraska-Kearney campus on Thursday.
“I’m very pleased that the Knights of Aksarben Foundation awards numerous scholarships to Nebraska students. Throughout their history, the Knights of Aksarben Foundation has awarded over $8 million in post-secondary scholarships.”
Founded in 1895, the Knights of Aksarben Foundation’s mission is to build a more prosperous Heartland and is led by 50 of the state's top leaders of community and industry whose core values are youth, academics, agriculture and scholarships.
The Aksarben Foundation has donated over $50 million to the region throughout its history with nearly 100 percent of the proceeds of each Knights of Aksarben Foundation program dedicated to post-secondary scholarships for area students. The foundation awards nearly $400,000 in post-secondary scholarships to up to 100 youth each year.
Aksarben's Coronation and Scholarship Ball, dedicated to celebrating volunteerism and philanthropy, will be held Saturday night at CenturyLink Center Omaha. It awards $300,000 in four-year college scholarships to 50 motivated youth who have experienced significant financial and personal obstacles throughout their childhood.
