The Joslyn Art Museum, 2200 Dodge St., just opened its debut exhibition in the new Riley Contemporary Artists Project Gallery, with “iROZEALb,” featuring the work of New York City artist iROZEALb (Iona Rozeal Brown).
In addition to paintings, including three on view for the first time, iROZEALb is presently painting a mural on site in the gallery space as part of the Joslyn exhibition.
Says Joslyn: "Fusing imagery and techniques from widely-varied sources — including American hip hop culture, traditional Japanese woodcut prints, comic books, and Byzantine icons — iROZEALb’s paintings, drawings, and mixed media collages examine the ways personal identity is shaped when cultural forces collide."
The exhibit continues through May 11. Admission to the Joslyn is free. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturday and Sundays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and closed Mondays.
