What: Steve Vai
When: 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31
Where: Whiskey Roadhouse, Horseshoe Casino, 2701 23rd Ave., Council Bluffs
Sure, Steve Vai lost to Ralph Macchio in “Crossroads,” but he's still one of the most nimble-fingered ax grinders on the planet, and he'll prove that on Thursday (Oct. 31) when he plays Whiskey Roadhouse at the Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs.
It was about the same time that Crossroads came out – 1986 – that Vai entered the mainstream spotlight as the guitarist for David Lee Roth’s supergroup Eat 'Em and Smile. It was the video to "Yankee Rose" featuring Vai that got fans excited about Roth's post-Van Halen career. You can watch that video by clicking on the first link below.
So what's Vai doing now? Still shredding, of course. And still bringing audiences to their feet with his exceptional guitar play. Considering his show is on Halloween, I'm expecting this Whiskey Roadhouse concert to be one of the more memorable ones.
And I'll leave you with this cool Steve Vai fact: Remember 1984's Hardbodies? Vai's wife, Pia Maiocco, appeared in the film as part of the band Diaper Rash, which included members of the band that would become the real-life Vixen. Need a refresher? Click on the second link below to watch a clip from Hardbodies featuring Diaper Rash (playing a "futuristic" song called "Computer Madness") and Scotty. Remember Scotty? Good times, good times.
