Weezy In Da Hizzouse
He almost didn't make it. That's what they say about Lil Wayne, who was hospitalized a few months ago after a series of serious seizures. But Weezy survived to rap another day, and on Tuesday (August 20) he brings his "America's Most Wanted Tour" to the CenturyLink Center, 455 N. 10th St.
Lil Wayne brings rappers T.I and 2 Chainz with him to the 7 p.m. show. Tickets are $49.40 to $125.75, and are available at Ticketmaster.com (800-745-3000).
Donkey Kong @ the Waiting Room
Gamers – casual and Power Glovers – will gather at the Waiting Room, 6212 Maple St., on Tuesday (August 20) for the "Nintendo Power Hour: Donkey Kong" night.
Several Nintendo gaming systems will be set up for casual play, and if you think you have the button-pounding skills to go head-to-head with the best, you can compete in the NES: Donkey Kong competition. There's a $5 buy-in for the competition, and the winner gets the loot.
The geek-out begins at 8 p.m., with the competition beginning at 9 p.m.
Wimpy Name, Strong Sound
If you're in the mood for some classic-sounding punk-rock (with a hint of the Runaways and the Dead Kennedys in there, am I right?) then stop down at the Slowdown, 729 N. 14th St., on Tuesday (August 20) to see Wimps perform. I really dig this band's stripped-down sound, and I'm guessing you might, too. You can decide for yourself by watching the band's video to "Repeat" by clicking on the link below. See if you can count the 5,500 things that flash on the screen during the video.
Opening the night at 9 p.m. will be Lot Walks and Eric In Outerspace. Cover is $5.
