Some people have chocolate, some have soap operas. Others secretly enjoy reality TV shows like Keeping Up With the Kardashians or the music of Justin Bieber. For me, my guilty pleasure is Vegas tribute acts.
I love them and really don't feel a pinch of guilt about it. I love the costumes, the spot-on looks, the passion that these imitators pour into their acts, the attention to the smallest of details from mannerisms to famous in-show banter. Sometimes it's hard to believe they aren't the real deal.
Local promoter Jim Huffman must love them, too, because he's bringing 18 of Las Vegas' most popular tribute acts to the Ralston Arena Friday and Saturday, August 15th and 16th, for two days filled with tag-team performances.
You'll see tributes to everyone from Dolly Parton, Abba and Alan Jackson to Whitney Houston, Billy Joel and Lionel Richie. The usual suspects are here, too: Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and the Beatles.
I'm especially looking forward to seeing the Abba tribute, which plays on Friday. You can watch a video of this act in action by clicking here. At SuperstarLegendsTribute.com you can watch videos featuring many of the performers.
The shows are split up into five, two-hour concerts, two on Friday and three on Saturday. Each show has multiple acts and you can buy tickets to just one or combos of two or more at a discount.
