The past couple of weeks have been kind of a downer for new releases. Non-Stop was extremely repetitive and felt like it should have ended thirty minutes after take off. Then there was 300 Rise of an Empire a.k.a. 300 the naval battle. Both warranted no grandiose review due to lack of substance.
Non-Stop is a movie about an Air Marshal who is an alcoholic and his plane is hijacked by a mysterious terrorist. Deaths randomly occur and he saves the day etcetera, etcetera. After the film I felt extremely jet lagged and took away nothing except for this one paragraph review.
Then this past Friday I went and saw 300 Rise of an Empire. If anyone has trouble with the context of this film and what the metaphors were then they've been living under a rock for the last fifty years. This movie is seven years too late to be considered highly anticipated. It borrowed heavily on the first film, but doing so way allow it to mash-up decently if one was to bear watching the two 300 films back to back.
This week's releases look a little more promising with Veronica Mars and Bad Words. Need for Speed, let's just say I won't be making that mistake.
