Otis Redding, Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye were a few names that came to mind when I closed my eyes and listened to St. Paul & the Broken Bones for the first time.
When I opened my eyes to watch a video by the Alabama group, I saw Paul Janeway, an awkward-looking bespectacled guy whose dance moves were a little James Brown and a lot Pee Wee Herman. What gives? How could that amazing singing be coming out of such an unsuspecting source.
It's really something you need to see and hear to believe. Watch this horn-filled, southern soul and R&B band's "Call Me" video by clicking here.
If that floats your boat, you can see the band live on Wednesday (August 6th) at the Slowdown. I hear the band's live shows are pretty crazy.
