Stir Cove's young summer concert season continues this week with a one-two '90s rock punch with Collective Soul (pictured) and the Gin Blossoms on Saturday (June 7).
Collective Soul struck gold in 1993 with their anthem "Shine." But that wasn't the band's only hit. They followed with "December," "Where the River Flows," "The World I know," "Gel," "Heavy" and "Smashing Young Man."
Meanwhile, the Gin Blossoms broke into the mainstream a year earlier than Collective Soul, scoring a massive hit with "Hey Jealousy" from their major label debut New Miserable Experience. A year later, tragedy struck when the song's author and Gin Blossoms' co-founder Doug Hopkins, who had been kicked out of the band, committed suicide.
