"See it first" is one of the appeals to the "New York Film Critics Series," a forward-thinking monthly live film event that features a screening of an independently released film prior to its national release. It's hosted by Peter Travers, movie critic for Rolling Stone, and also features live interviews with the film's stars after the screenings, which are simulcast across the country.
In Omaha, the clever series plays at Film Streams, 1340 Mike Fahey St. On Tuesday, Jan. 21, the film will be “At Middleton,” starring Andy Garcia as a button-down heart surgeon and Vera Farmiga as a single mom. The two meet during a college tour with their respective kids. They get separated from the tour group and go on a little campus adventure that leads to self-discovery and ... love.
The event will be streamed live in HD from NYC beginning at 7 p.m. After the film, live interviews will be conducted with “At Middleton” stars Garcia (“Ocean's 11”) and Farmiga (“Up In The Air,” “Departed”) and its director Adam Rogers.
Tickets are $18, and are available at filmstreams.org.
