What: Larry the Cable Guy
When: Friday (Nov. 15)
Where: Orpheum Theater
Cost: $35 to $95
One of America's – and definitely Nebraska's – favorite rednecks will be in Omaha on Friday, Nov. 15 for two shows at the Orpheum Theater, 409 S. 16th St.
Larry the Cable Guy, played by Pawnee City, Neb., native Dan Whitney, has come a long way since his "What the hell is this – Russia?" days on Omaha radio with the likes of Todd & Tyler on Z-92 and Chris Baker on KKAR-AM and then the Edge (remember the Edge?).
Today, Whitney's Cable Guy is one of the most popular comedic characters in the business. He's put his Get-R-Done style on everything from a line of potato chips to lending his voice (Mater in Cars) to starring in movies and hosting a TV show to being a part of one of the most successful stand-up teams ever with the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. He's even a pitchman for a stomach acid reducer.
You can expect Larry the Cable Guy's two shows Friday – 7 and 9:30 p.m. – be full houses. Tickets are $35 to $95, and are available at the Orpheum box office (402-345-0606) and online at ticketexpress.com.
If you can't make it to one of the shows, you can catch Whitney in Lincoln on Saturday. But he won't be performing his stand-up act. He'll be at the Nebraska football game cheering on his beloved Huskers. Go Big Red! Get-R-Done!
