When you're one of the top zoos in the world – with the world's largest indoor dessert, America's largest indoor rain forest and the world's largest nocturnal exhibit – how do you top yourself?
Easy. Camel rides. Duh.
That's right. Last week, the Henry Doorly Zoo began offering camel rides. Located near Red Barn Park between Durham's Bear Canyon and Sue's Carousel, you can hop aboard a one-hump dromedary camel and go for a $5 trot between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
