What: Bootsy Collins
When: FRIDAY (Dec. 27),
Where: Embassy Suites
Web: Embassy Suites
Phone: (402) 346-9000
He's gone by many names: Casper the Funky Ghost, Bootzilla, the "World's Only Rhinestone Rock Star Monster of a Doll." And on FRIDAY (Dec. 27), funk master Bootsy Collins will bring his "space bass" to Omaha to play the Embassy Suites, 555 S. 10th St., in the Old Market.
Warning: This is going to be a butt-shakin', hip-bustin' affair. Be prepared to get funked up – Bootsy will definitely bring the funk for this show, which he's calling the "Funky Jingle Jam." He brought it as a member of James Brown's band in 1970, he brought it as a member of the George Clinton-led Parliament and Funkadelic, and he brought it as a solo star, and he will most certainly bring it on Friday.
I'm guessing the Rock N Roll Hall of Famer will offer a mix of funk classics ranging from Brown's "Get Up" to a broad selection from his Parliament-Funkadelic days to his Rubber Band and solo hits, including "The Pinocchio Theory" and "Body Slam!"
Tickets to this funky shindig are $35, and are available via liveentertainmentworld.com or at Love's Jazz & Art Center, 2510 N. 24th St. (402-502-5291). The funk starts at 8 p.m.
