What: Gorgol Bordello, with Solid Goldberg
When: 8 p.m. Friday, August 16
Where: The Slowdown, 729 N. 14th St.
Known for putting on theatrical stage shows that leave audiences awe-struck, Gorgol Bordello is lead by Russian Eugene Hütz (pictured above), a Ukrainian-born singer who moved to New York City and formed the band with violinist Sergey Rybtsev, accordion player YuriLemeshev and several other musicians.
Together, they create a one-of-a-kind sound that is in a class all by itself. You really need to sample one of their tunes to understand where they're coming from. You can do that by clicking on the link below, which will connect you to their video for "Start Wearing Purple."
If that trips your ear's trigger, then you're ready to see the band live at the Slowdown, 729 N. 14th St., on Friday(August 16). Solid Goldberg opens the 8 p.m. show. Tickets are $25.
